Huntsman's Polyurethanes Division is seeking a Development Scientist supporting our facility in Auburn Hills, MI. This position will report to the Technical Manager, Global Automotive Technology & Innovation.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Development Scientist to join our Global AutomotiveTechnology & Innovation Team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Scientist  will be responsible fordevelopment and commercialization of new polyurethane systems for Automotive applications.

The Scientist will help to develop and to deploy new or modified technology or products designed to expand business opportunities in the Global Automotive market.The Scientist willassist the Technology & Innovation Team achieve these goals through laboratory experimentation, new product and application development, field trials, customer technical service support, and other business activities.

In summary, in the role of Development Scientist, you will:

Maintain a safe work environment, complying with safety policies and procedures. Follow safe work practices to ensure individual, customer, visitor, and team member safety in both the laboratory and in the field. Conduct laboratory work to develop new Automotive products, application technologies and/or to provide technical service support as appropriate in support of Automotive customers. The result is a body of work, which demonstrates the ability to effectively resolve a variety of complex product development challenges and embodies technical innovation. Work must include well-written concise reports, which are completed on time and utilize rigorous data analysis skills. Participate in Field Trials. End results are a proven track record of effective demonstrations of technology, which increase the value of our business. Protection of Intellectual Property. End results include awareness of patents relevant to development programs, and proactive initiation of concise invention reports and patent applications. Perform laboratory development projects, provide technical service support to customers, and conduct field trials of new products. Receive only occasional direction from senior technologists or the Technical Manager. Initiate new projects by identifying project objectives, preparing project plans, and performing experiments, laboratory work, and literature reviews as necessary to support project milestones. Awareness of intellectual property issues is expected at this level. Incumbents are expected to regularly review the intellectual property landscape prior to initiating projects, and to proactively seize opportunities to establish intellectual property by authoring invention reports and patent applications. Work independently, collaborate with supervisors in the conceptual development of more complex projects, ensure all work is logically prioritized and coordinated with other ongoing projects in an efficient manner. Communicate to stakeholders a project's status on an ongoing basis by using written and oral communication, including technical memos, project plans, project timelines, and presentations.
