Summary:

  • The Data Consultant provides the Senior Data Consultant and the Sub-Acute and Therapy Services division with the data, analysis, and insight necessary to ensure informed decision-making by operational colleagues and leaders.

  • He/she will demonstrate intermediate-to-expert skill of data tools, concepts and processes related to the health system, the division, and the PA LTC grant. He/she will demonstrate an expert ability to navigate the Penn Medicine ecosystem of data tools and sources from the quality/operations perspective, including but not limited to Epic, Salesforce, Databricks, and other Penn Medicine data sources and PA State Systems.

  • The Data Consultant will support the Senior Data Consultant in overseeing data routines, establish sound data standard operating procedures, and play a significant role in standard metric development within the Program.

  • The Data Consultant will demonstrate leadership in Sub-Acute and Therapy Services and data teams across the organization related specific data sets and analysis through his/her words and actions.

  • The Data Consultant will advance the business intelligence and data analytics capabilities of the team by demonstrating mastery over the data models generated by the team.

  • Finally, but foundationally, the Data Consultant is accountable to facilitate a highly effective work culture for the Program and its reputation within Penn Medicine a well as among external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Routines: Data analysis contact for Sub-Acute & Therapy Services (primary in specific cases, but mostly service as supplemental). Supports Senior Data Consultant in managing the data requirements of the division. Optimizes work processes and automate tasks through data analysis, visualization build, and other associated tasks. Supports Senior Data Consultant in setup of standard operating procedures for data teams.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Maintains or obtains Epic Caboodle and Clarity certifications to help serve the greater Penn DnA community and the division. Supports Senior Data Consultant in data mart load processes and ensures high availability of accurate data to end users. Must be an expert in SQL query authoring. Mentors other team members on this skillset as needed. Demonstrates expert-level understanding and experience in Salesforce CRM, both as report/dashboard builder and administrator Serves as an expert in data visualization

  • respond to ad hoc requests for charts/maps/infographics.

  • Supervision: Supports Senior Data Consultant in tracking data and enhancement requests related to the division and ensure timely completion of activities.

  • Data Governance: Promotes adoption of standard data definitions and usage across analyst teams. Supports data definition and data dictionary development, helping guide the division move towards a common definition in any applicable situation.

  • Problem Framing and Decision Quality: Helps business users frame poorly articulated needs into robust data deliverables keeping in mind data governance work. Strives for high decision quality by thinking ahead and informing stakeholders for success.

  • Other Tasks: Collaborates effectively with Information Services and other data teams in the organizations as required. Works toward problem resolution breaking down barriers between teams.

Credentials:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)

  • Education Specialization:Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Information Management preferred

  • 4+ years Experience in the health care industry in some combination of the following: physician practice operations, clinical analytics, health plan, multi-facility health system, or accountable care organization (ACO) settings

  • And Prior work experience with EMR data (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.)
