TheFinancial Counselorworks with patients and families to advise and plan for payment of services on patient accounts. S/he prepares and maintains payment arrangements, plans and coordination of benefits on behalf of the patient to maximize up front collections.

JOB DUTIES:

• Review scheduled patient procedures with insurance and prior authorization to inform patient of their financial obligation for services
• Contact patients prior to scheduled services to advise of financial costs and payment arrangements
• Counsel patients on financial options available to them
• Work with patients to arrange acceptable payment for services
• Work with patients to make credit plans on delinquent or current accounts
• Use discretion and judgment in making firm financial arrangements for the Financial Assistance Program (501R)
• Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
• Record any and all collection efforts taken on individual accounts
• Process Employee Discounts and Payroll Deductions for CRMC associates
• Process M&I grant reviews and write offs

TheFinancial Counselorassumes other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
• Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
• Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
• Understanding of billing, patient care, and excellent customer service
• Ability to type 45-60 WPM
