Brunswick Manufacturing Engineer in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

The Manufacturing Engineer for drag finish reports into the Plant Engineering Manager. The Manufacturing Engineer will own the drag finish department which includes several drag finish machines, part washing and inspection. The drag finish engineer will have to understand our upstream departments as well as customer requirements to improve current and specify out new equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process ownership of drag finishing, washing, and final inspection

  • Develop new and refine current drag finish processes to reduce scrap, rework and product cost

  • Support manufacturing by troubleshooting engineering and controls issues

  • Assists in the control of quality and productivity while maintaining good housekeeping and safety standards on a continual basis

  • Works in tandem with supervisory staff to meet production requirements

  • Independently manage a portfolio of projects to find and fix the root cause of part quality issues

  • Participate on internal teams to facilitate the design, development, maintenance and continuous improvement of factory automation and equipment

  • Leading cost reduction projects

  • Prepare and document work instructions to maintain ISO compliance

  • Works closely with all team members to ensure each task is completed in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with all regulatory requirements

  • Attends safety meetings and training programs and participates in plant safety programs as required.

  • Act as a liaison between design engineering & manufacturing personnel

  • Work closely with operations to best understand current and past practices and deploy and sustain process improvements

  • Work with suppliers to understand incoming materials and characteristics

  • Review current tooling shortcomings and redesign as necessary

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (required)

  • Strong mechanical as well as "hands on" aptitude (required)

  • Passion for developing and executing best in class investment casting processes (required)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently manage and prioritize projects (required)

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and engaged learner (required)

  • Ability to interact and communicate with different job functions and lead cross functional teams

  • The ability to read and understand part and tooling prints and modify prints using CAD (required)

  • Knowledge and understanding of GD&T (preferred)

  • Ability to lead DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) projects (preferred)

  • Exposure to Microsoft products including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint (welcome)

  • Programming experience with robots (welcome)

  • Need to be able to communicate effectively verbally and written via shift notes and emails

  • Ability to occasionally lift to 35 lbs.

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
