Robert Half Accounts Receivable Specialist in Glen Allen, Virginia

Description We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team, based in GLEN ALLEN, Virginia. As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, your main focus will be to research and reconcile complex corporate customer accounts, manage collections of past due balances, and work collaboratively with customers and other departments to resolve account issues. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity, providing a challenging and rewarding experience in a dynamic workplace.

Responsibilities:

• Research and reconcile corporate accounts by gathering data and obtaining supporting documentation from various systems and sources. • Work alongside other departments and with customers to identify out-of-balance conditions and resolve reconciling items. • Recommend process improvements to eliminate or decrease out-of-balance conditions and reconciling items. • Actively participate in the ongoing cleanup of existing corporate accounts and maintain a steady state. • Develop relationships to facilitate the collections of accounts receivable and resolving internal/external issues preventing timely payment. • Handle customer disputes to resolution and document root cause. • Resolve payment discrepancies; respond to invoice inquiries, proof of delivery, and statement requests. • Review purchase orders, contracts, and any other agreements to determine proper invoice and account setup. • Assist with decision-making on escalations and collectability of accounts; recommend write-offs or legal actions as warranted. • Participate and communicate actively in team-based workgroups. Requirements • Solid experience in Billing • Familiarity with Rejection Reports • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Experience in Accounts Receivable function • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • High attention to detail and accuracy • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Knowledge of standard accounting principles and regulations • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred • Relevant detail oriented certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) will be an advantage.
