General Purpose

This announcement will be used to fill part-time positions at the Library. This position typically works up to 19.5 hours

per week which includes evening hours and shifts on Saturdays.

The Library Page position performs basic duties related to maintaining the library collection. Works under the close

supervision of a library supervisor or librarian.

Essential Functions

Shelves books according to Dewey Decimal System and alphabetical order. Straightens and arranges shelves .

Checks books in and out as assigned . Collects fines and makes proper receipts .

Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Education and Experience:

A. Educational background sufficient to demonstrate an ability to perform the above and related tasks.

B. No experience necessary.

2. Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Ability to shelve accurat ely, ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to develop good working relations with

fellow employees and the general public; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Final candidates will be subject to a background check prior to employment.

Work Environment

Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require variety of

physical activities, and may involve minimal muscular strain, such as walking, standing , stooping, sitting and reaching .

Talking , hearing and seeing essential to the performance of essential functions. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot

dexterity also utilized in performance of daily tasks. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability,

discriminating thinking and creative problem solving .
