Dowbuilt HR Business Partner in Miami, Florida
We’re hiring an HR Business Partner in Miami, FL, to serve as administrator for several critical human resources and workforce management functions for our growing Southern Florida team. Areas of focus include recruiting coordination, employee relations, health and safety, benefits, employee development and training, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and employee recordkeeping. This critical position provides excellent customer service to employees across all functions of HR while maintaining and continuously improving Dowbuilt’s reputation as a great place to work. The HR Business Partner will also provide internal support and partnership to the regional and project principals.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Compliance and Employee Relations
Referencing performance improvement procedures, guide managers through conception and execution of performance improvement plans for Florida employees. Escalate as needed to the Director of Human Resources.
Lead investigations and resolve all grievances with compassion, diplomacy, professionalism, and confidentiality. Balance the dual priorities of supporting all parties while developing fair, equitable and prudent resolutions for the company and the employees involved. Escalate as needed to the Director of Human Resources.
Guide managers and employees through the ADA accommodation process, escalating to the Director of Human Resources when necessary.
Partner with HR Director and Employee Development Director to achieve 100% compliance with mandated Florida-specific training requirements.
Ensure all employee relations activities comply with applicable employment laws, are creative, fully maintain and improve partnerships with operational efficiency and profitability.
Work with HR Director and outside counsel to manage Florida-specific employment related legal claims and costs.
Work with HR Director to ensure Dowbuilt not only meets compliance requirements but achieves best-practice objectives around leased employees and all joint-employer responsibilities, including contractual language.
Health and Welfare Benefits
Work with HR Generalist to administer company healthcare plans including communication, enrollment, ACA and COBRA compliance for Florida employees.
Conduct benefit education meetings for Florida employees, and track Florida employee follow-through on enrollment or waiver process.
Communicate benefit transition information to separated Florida employees.
Time Off and Leave Administration
Work with HR Generalist and third-party leave administrator to communicate and track requests for leave from FL employees.
401(k) Administration
Work with HR Generalist to administer 401(k) Plan for Florida employees including employee communications, new hire enrollments, loans, and hardship withdrawals.
General Employee Support
Assist Florida employees with the reimbursement process and navigating associated Dowbuilt systems.
Work with relocating employees and their families on matters including but not limited to recommendations on neighborhoods to consider living, school systems, crew housing etiquette and protocol, etc.
Workers’ Compensation
Assist injured workers in accessing care within our Workers’ Compensation insurance network in Florida. Collaborate with employees and supervisors to ensure documentation is complete and filed on Egnyte.
Maintain Smartsheet workers’ compensation claim master tracker with updated information on all open FL claims.
Review all Florida WC claim reports with HR Generalist monthly.
Work with HR Generalist and safety director to refine and improve injury reporting process/documents and other communication.
Create and distribute hardcopy Injured Worker Packets on an annual basis and by request throughout the year.
Work with HR Generalist and safety team to create and distribute annual OSHA 300 reports.
Training/Development:
Coordinate Field Check-In reviews with Florida Superintendents, Director of Field Operations and Director of Employee Development.
Miami Office Operations Management (Future)
Participate in selecting Dowbuilt's Miami-based office space.
Once under lease, support move-in and set-up.
Manage Miami office workplace to ensure employees have a productive work environment
Train, supervise and support the Miami office coordinator, and collaborate/learn from regional office coordinators across the company
Act as primary point of contact with office landlord and manage necessary work on the building
Oversee janitorial services contract and serve as main contact for resolving issues or researching alternative providers
Oversee all shipping/receiving activities – including tracking and coding outgoing shipments and maintaining relationships with service providers
Review and approve office vendor invoices
Oversee all office furniture requests, orders and maintenance
Build social and work events that enhance employee connectivity
Ensure our working-from-home employees have the tools and necessities to create an optimal remote working environment.
TRAVEL: Travel may occasionally be required to visit Dowbuilt projects and teams. Less than 5% of the time.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field with at least 3 years of HR experience; prior employee relations and benefit administration experience preferred.
Up-to-date on compliance, self and fully insured plan compliance, federal and state workers’ compensation law, and 401(k) fiduciary responsibilities
Enthusiasm for fostering an inclusive work environment, working with diverse teams and a commitment to increasing equity for all employees
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification highly desired.
Construction industry experience highly preferred.

Experience with an HRIS and benefit admin systems (Employee Navigator, BambooHR and ADP highly preferred)
Computer savvy; proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel. BlueBeam Revu is desired
Experience with web-based solutions such as Smartsheet, Egnyte, Slack preferred
Exceptional organization and high attention to detail with dedication to follow-through
Effective in building understanding and creating trust among employees and managers at every level of the business
Demonstrate discretion and treat all employee and proprietary company information as strictly confidential
Demonstrate business acumen, with a track record of success in coaching managers for organizational assimilation and improved performance.
Operate with a high level of integrity and emotional intelligence
Tactful, caring and diplomatic
Strong organizational skills and able to juggle competing deadlines and projects.

The salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $95,000 DOE
