Job Description Summary

The University of Pennsylvania’s Tennis Center is seeking a part-time tennis professional. Our facilities consist of 8 indoor courts and 12 outdoor courts, overlooking the Philadelphia skyline. This position is responsible for conducting tennis lessons and programs for all ages and ability levels.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assisting students in developing and improving various tennis skills. Assessing students' tennis skills to determine areas in need of improvement. Coordinating and conducting individual and group tennis lessons. Developing suitable instruction for students based on their age, objectives, and individual skillsets.

  • Ability to communicate with players in both clinics and private lessons. Manage and organize tennis clinics. This includes but is not limited to providing appropriate drills/gameplan based on the level of players.

  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of Penn Tennis Center equipment. Notify management if on-court equipment needs to be repaired or replaced.

  • Promote all Penn Tennis Center programs and events. This includes clinics, holiday and summer camps, and socials.

Duties

Tennis instructors will be required to teach both clinics and private lessons for the members and non-members of Penn Tennis Center. Tennis Instructor must be able to work evenings during the week, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) or United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certification preferred. College tennis experience or 3.0 player rating is a plus for this position. Experience teaching junior and adult tennis players with a wide-range of ability levels: 10 and under to 4.0+ Adult tennis players. CPR certification. Some computer skills will be needed. Excellent communication skills. Can cooperatively work in a team environment.

Pay Range
