UPMC Part-Time PVL Technologist (Registered Vascular Technologist) - Weekend Coverage in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Are you a newly graduated ultrasound student? Or an experienced vascular technologist looking for the next step in their career?

UPMC is hiring a Part-time PVL Technologist to support their UPMC Stroke Institute team in Pittsburgh! This position will work within their accredited Neurovascular Ultrasound program, treating a wide range of stroke patient disease processes at the UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Mercy locations. Your main duty will be to perform noninvasive studies of the intracranial and extracranial cerebrovascular anatomy.

This position will provide daylight weekend coverage with one weekday and rotating holiday coverage, as needed. No evening or on call required! This position will support both the office at UPMC Presbyterian and Mercy campuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Display knowledge of Doppler and Ultrasound physics when performing vascular exams.

  • Provide general information to patients and their significant others while performing vascular testing.

  • Enter data in computer and maintains data integrity. Participates in the training of new technologists and students. Participates in continuing education within the department.

  • Provide support to staff to assure competency in all phases of vascular diagnostic services.

  • Obtain detailed, accurate history on vascular patients.

  • Display ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment and computer terminals and make minor repairs.

  • Assist other staff members and hospital personnel in completion of needed tasks. Make patient care and/or interdepartmental service the number one priority.

  • Maintain safety of vascular patients while in the department.

  • Obtain and calculate tracing, spectral analyses and analog waveforms for vascular tests.

  • Perform all studies offered in the Peripheral Vascular lab within twelve months of starting date.

Completion of formal training in an accredited Vascular Technology or Ultrasound program required or RVT or equivalent credential required

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Registered or registry eligible with physics portion of registry obtained is preferred. Must obtain registry within 12 months of graduation date. CPR or BLS Required. Act 33, 34, 73 or as required by business unit.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 34
