The Mahoney House is looking for an energetic person to join our team to assist in the implementation of our services and programs, work as an advocate for survivors, and help carry out the overall mission of the organization. The ideal candidate is an empathetic go-getter, organizer, communicator, and self-starter with above-average computer skills. This person needs to maintain a good attitude and sense of humor while working collaboratively to tackle tough issues. A passion to create social change is a must!

Advocate Responsibilities

  • Work directly with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, including attending meetings, medical appointments, and court appearances with survivors, making referrals to appropriate resources and services, and assisting survivors in emergency situations
  • Answer phone calls, assist walk-in clients, and perform other administrative duties
  • Carry and respond to our 24-hour crisis hotline phone 7-10 days and overnights per month
  • Ensure quality data reporting in online systems
  • Promote The Mahoney House programs, classes, and services
  • Network with local, state, and federal agencies in support of The Mahoney Houses mission and objectives
  • Participate in education and training opportunities offered to law enforcement, legal systems, attorneys, medical personnel, and community members and attend conferences and meetings as required

  • Implementation of plans and adherence to schedules
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Valid drivers license and current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Occasional multiday travel for offsite meetings, trainings, and conferences

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Business-related social media experience
  • Grant writing experience
