Principal Accountabilities

  1. Machine Operation
  • Thoroughly follow all operating, quality, and safety procedures.

  • Set-up, start, monitor, operate, and troubleshoot extruders so as to maximize o utput of quality sheet.

  • Quickly solve routine process problems with minimum scrap.

  • Continually advance ability to solve more difficult process problems.

  • Perform changeovers in gauge, material, length, width, or any combination of these with minimum scrap.

  • Thoroughly set-up extruders to process sheet parameters during start-up and changeovers.

  • Monitor and document run parameters on Daily Production Report.

  • Monitor and document process control parameters in process log.

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot all auxiliary equipment such as but not limited to hopper loaders, silos, hydraulic systems, dryers, saws, and take off equipment.

  • Learn, understand, and communicate process performance with respect to scrap and its causes, rate compared to standard, and effect of substituting regrind for virgin as raw material.

  • Participate in new product/process development trials with engineering.

  • Repair minor equipment problems and obtain maintenance assistance where necessary with ultimate goal of keeping production running.

  1. Line Operator Direction
  • Direct and monitor line operator performance in all their duties.

  • Assist in advancement of line operator capabilities including extruder machine operation.

  • Communicate with line operator on quality problems and help or train on troubleshooting adjustment.

  • Assist and perform job functions of line operator and grinder whenever necessary, including covering short shifts and breaks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Function with an attitude of teamwork, cooperativeness, positive thinking, and responsibility at all times.

  • Show up for assigned shifts, pre-arranged coverage, and all required meetings consistently.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Operation of forklift and other material handling equipment.

  • Math and computer skills, including Movex.

  • Above average mechanical and technical understanding of process and equipment.

  • Safe working behavior.

  • Adaptable, flexible, ability to prioritize, driven, thorough, and strong sense of urgency.

  • Determined to fight through problems to meet customer and production requirements

  • Team oriented with leadership qualities.

  • Communicate with teammates to develop relationships and proliferate positive attitude.

  • Previous Extrusion department experience.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Excellent Attendance

  • The salary for this position is $23.21. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
