Robert Half Staff Accountant in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Description

We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our team in SCRANTON, Pennsylvania. This role primarily focuses on post-award grant management, general accounting activities, and financial reporting. You will be responsible for monitoring budget and grant spending, invoicing for reimbursement-based grants, and assisting in the preparation and completion of financial statements and reports for management review.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with financial oversight on all aspects of post-award process of grants.

• Provide monthly updates on grant spend and budget monitoring.

• Perform invoicing for reimbursement-based grant expenditures incurred on a monthly basis.

• Assist in the general accounting and other financial related activities.

• Contribute in the preparation and completion of the financial statements and reports for management review.

• Code and approve grant-related expenditures before payment is generated and remitted to vendor.

• Reconcile grants-related accounts to the General Ledger trial balance as part of the monthly financial closing process.

• Initiate grant-related employee full-time equivalent (FTE) allocations changes.

• Perform periodic drawdowns of awarded grant funding from governmental Payment Management Systems (PMS) database.

• Collaborate with different teams for the preparation of invoices for reimbursement of expenditures.

Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) operations

• Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Demonstrable skills in Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance

• Proficiency in creating and managing Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Knowledge of accounting software is a plus

• Attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills.
