Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tourist Information Counselor in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania

The Mercer Welcome Center is actively seeking a Tourist Information Counselor to become a valuable member of their team. Join us in providing exceptional support to visitors from near and far as they explore all that our city has to offer.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, your main responsibility will be to provide exceptional customer service to all individuals who visit the PennDOT Welcome Center, including the traveling public, tourism industry partners, internal customers, employees, vendors, and more. You will be expected to assist travelers by providing them with important information about their visit to Pennsylvania, such as directions and hotel accommodations, with the aim of promoting and encouraging travel throughout the state.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in enhancing PennDOT's tourism outreach efforts and strengthening partnerships with the industry. This will involve organizing special programming, conducting information tours, participating in travel shows, and coordinating related events. By actively engaging in these activities, you will contribute to the overall growth and development of Pennsylvania's tourism sector.

Furthermore, you may also be assigned various travel-support duties by your supervisor or division manager. These duties could include tasks such as assisting with travel arrangements, coordinating logistics for events or meetings, or providing support to other team members as needed. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Temporary operating hours for Keystone Welcome Centers are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.  The incumbent will work the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM until further notice to resume previous hours of operation. Until approximately January 2025, the incumbent in this position will be temporarily headquartered in Washington County at: I-70 E Welcome Center I-70 Eastbound 5 miles east of PA/WV border Claysville, PA 15323 The permanent work headquarters for this position is in Mercer County at: I-80 E Welcome Center I-80 Eastbound mile east of PA/OH border West Middlesex, PA 16159 Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in work involving public contact; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements:

You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Mercer County Welcome Center, I-80 Eastbound,  Mile East of PA/OH Border, Middlesex, PA. Must be willing and able to work in and commute TEMPORARILY (until approximately January 2025) in Washington County PennDOT Welcome Center: I-70 Eastbound, 5 Miles East of PA/WV Border, Claysville, PA. You must have one year of customer service experience. You must have one year of work experience involving public contact. You must have experience working with computers. You must have experience answering phones, composing emails; compiling reports; tracking office activities and inventory; data entry; and filing. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Level of Education Indicate years of public contact (customer service) work
