We are seeking a Coax Splicer to join our team in our Kansas City, KS office. In this role you will produce high-quality work while using specialized skills in splicing, activations, testing, and troubleshooting. You will upgrade the existing plant, plant extensions, and new building construction.

The Role

  • Strive to provide the best customer experience every day

  • Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets for required tasks and sequence

  • Read and understand site plans, maps, diagrams, designs, and prints needed to support assigned projects

  • Repair and splice new lines as needed to complete testing and certification

  • Place and install required coax cable as needed

  • Installs all passive and active devices, pedestals, vaults and coax splice cases required to house CATV equipment to meet customer requirements

  • Test Coax-RF lines

  • Pull Coax through existing duct package, pulling cable through conduit manually, blowing, or mechanically, and splice and activate underground and aerial lines

  • Optimizes new nodes and splices in node splits to reduce capacity

  • Utilizes RF Meters and TDR accurately

  • Safely utilizes bucket trucks or climbs utility poles to place cables on poles per system design

  • Complete all production sheets, verify proper levels after activation, and adjusts and troubleshoots as necessary to close assigned projects

  • Complete all projects with safety as the #1 priority, ensuring compliance with internal safety standards and all governmental orders

  • Work in a variety of environments; indoors, outdoors, tight spaces, elevated

  • Navigate a variety of terrains managing tools and equipment

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

  • Proficiency in new build, coax and pole transfers

  • Ability to use signal level meter, volt-ohm meter, AC clamp meter television test set, spectrum analyzer basic time domain reflectometer and system maps sweep gear

  • Ability to travel daily and open to a variety of schedules

  • Excellent customer service, time management, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to learn and operate testing equipment and software/programs

  • Ability to utilize hand tools, identify wire size/color and accurately utilize measuring devices

  • Ability to carry, climb, operate, and work upon an extension ladder (approximately 28 feet high and 75 pounds)

  • Ability to complete tasks with small components and wires

  • Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces and elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and working while standing up to 70% of the time

  • Ability to safely work and navigate various terrains, managing equipment, safety equipment and tools

  • A body weight of no more than 275 pounds to perform ladder work safely. Safety is our #1 Priority. If personal safety is not compromised, an accommodation may be available based on previous ladder experience in a similar role.
