Strategic Sourcing Specialist

We are looking for a highly motivated Strategic Sourcing Specialist who can partner with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate sourcing strategy, negotiating with key suppliers, and purchasing crucial commodities. In this role, you will facilitate the development and execution of sourcing strategies, conduct supplier evaluation and selection, conduct negotiations and drive cost, quality and continuity of supply improvements.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to capture and address sourcing requirements.
• Identify, select, qualify, and form strategic partnerships with suppliers based on internal and external customer needs
• Evaluate suppliers' capabilities regarding quality, technology, service, cost competitiveness, capacity, financial strengths, flexibility, and commitment.
• Drive cost, quality and continuity of supply improvement
• Lead supplier development by evaluating performance and facilitating improvements
• Analyze category spend and proactively identify opportunities for improvement
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to reduce no bids
• Conduct supplier audits to determine effectiveness of supplier process controls and effectiveness of their QMS (both qualification and ongoing maintenance audits).

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or related field
• 5 years sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to travel up to 40%
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Eligibility for any required authorizations from the US government, to conform with US export regulations and ITAR 120.15 and EAR Part 772.

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

• Graduate level degree in engineering or MBA
• Aerospace &Defense industry experience a plus
• Experience sourcing machined parts, gears and/or circuit card assemblies
• Strong understanding of sourcing and supply chain concepts and techniques
• Strategic thinker with excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Lean Six Sigma training and/or certification a plus
• Computer literate with MS Office and ERP experience
• Competent in leading programs and/or projects
• Bias for action. Ability to recognize problems and opportunities. Ability to drive problem resolution and follow through to completion.
• Results-oriented. Drives to achieve both short and long term goals.
• Customer focused. Driven to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
• Innovative/Creative- drives to develop proprietary, product-differentiating technologies.
• Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

Physical Requirements Include:

• Individual will be required to remain in stationary position a majority of the time.
• The individual will need to frequently move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
• Positions self to maintain files in cabinets.
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• The ability to observe details at close range to ensure accuracy.
• Occasionally moves boxes or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds across office.
